This mod is an INTEGRATION PATCH. Both of these mods work just fine side by side without this patch. What this mod accomplishes is full integration between the original and DarkStar, so that the original's assets can take full advantage of DarkStar's features. If you are seeking an achievement friendly playthrough, you can safely use the original mods together without issue. However, if you want to experience the original mod alongside DarkStar's entire featureset and gain access to the special features provided by this integration patch, then you will, of course, need this integration patch installed. Usage of this patch is entirely optional, and at the discretion of each individual player.
WARNING: THIS PATCH IS INTENDED TO CHALLENGE PLAYERS WHO HAVE PROGRESSED THROUGH MULTIPLE NEW GAMES. THE SCALED TEMPLE GUARDIAN MAY PROVE TOO DIFFICULT FOR PLAYERS IN THEIR FIRST FEW UNITY TRIPS. PLAYERS SHOULD DETERMINE FOR THEMSELVES WHAT LEVEL OF CHALLENGE IS APPROPRIATE.
This patch enhances the Starborn Temple Guardian to provide more of a challenge for players who have done significant amounts of DarkStar research. This patch doubles the Guardian's HP and scales them in line with other Starborn bosses like The Hunter and The Emmisary. The Guardian also scales with the player level.
This patch preserves the Guardian's melee centric combat style but reduces the amount of time it spends taunting the player and increases their overall aggression and mobility. As a result, the Guardian will relentlessly pursue and attack the player upon spawn, will attempt to evade the player more often, and is more likely to close the distance on the player. In some instances, the Guardian will ignore companions to focus on the player.
The Guardian's powers have also been altered. The Guardian will now use either parallel self or inner demon to harass the player. Should the player attempt to flee, the Guardian will use sunless space, supernova, or other ranged starborn powers to incapacitate the player. Further, the Guardian is immune to terrormorph mind control and EM stunning damage.
Finally, the Guardian drops components for the Starborn Temple Guardian Armor and the Temple Guardian Staff, both of which can be upgraded to Mk.II. The Guardian Staff has had its damage rebalanced to reflect its Starborn origin and has persistent upgrades across unity trips.
