Game Pass obsession of the week

As if my backlog wasn't bad enough, they have to go and surprise add Diablo II: Resurrected. I guess I'm going back to Hell again...

Does anyone else have other new releases, hidden gems, or old favorites that have "stolen" time from their "main" games? Bonus points for GP titles, but otherwise not required.

I really got into Powerwash Simulator 2 when I found it on GP, but I just beat it last night. No longer do I have that more simplistic, chill gameplay I can tune out to. it was fun while it last, despite having a couple of grievances with it, but it honestly couldn't have ended on a better time. Avowed had it's big update yesterday and I'm excited to jump right in with a fresh save and play the aumua I always play as. :)

A Game About Digging a Hole

Short experience, but exactly that kinda tune out and do what it says on the tin kind of game.

I loved Diablo 2 back in the day. I spent so many hours on it in a clan playing that game. The necromancer is my absolute favorite class in all Diablo games. It's something about raising a small army of minions and blowing up corpses really appeals to me. I think this plays a part in how much I love the Dangerzone mod on Starfield. I can summon a squad of allies then take on a POI reinforced by even more hostiles I summon. I downloaded the Resurrected version and tried playing it again. It brought back nice memories, but I was drawn back to Starfield pretty soon after.

One game I loved that was on Game Pass right before Starfield was Everspace 2. After a year on GP, it was removed, but it is often on sale again and totally worth its price. The space combat is amazing, and the story is decent with good voice acting. They obviously pinched the budget to focus on the combat because the cutscenes are more animated illustrations, but I'm alright with that considering how good the space combat is.

Back in the day, I loved Age of Empires II, so that is something I had to snag on GP. There's also AOE 4 and Age of Mythology. I really want Microsoft to remaster Starcraft for Xbox. That would be a dream come true for me.

Another current GP title I'm liking is Dome Keeper. It's a nice cozy game to try. I also use Power Wash Simulator 1 & 2 - gradually working my way through the second when I want to do something mindlessly fun. Avowed was a nice distraction when it came out, and I liked Doom: Dark Ages a lot.

I've been tempted lately to give Kingdom Come: Deliverance a try. I saw KCD 2 is coming to GP on March 3.

Are you me?

Skelemancer main. Check

AoE II is best. Check

Blizzard remasters slap. Check check check. Basically rose-tinted-glasses filter. They look like I remember them looking...until I toggle back to classic.

Everspace? I Kickstarted the original and adore 2. Can't wait to see what the team cooks up next.

I gotta check out Dome Keeper now. Maybe after I clear Act V with my sorceress... Agreed on Powerwash Sim as well. Enjoyed Avowed. Need to go back to Doom.

Played a decent amount of KC:D, but didn't feel compelled to finish. Which is probably for the best because I really don't need another giant RPG time-sink when 2 drops.

Too many great games. Fantastic problem to have.

Wow, nice to meet another Starfield + Everspace fan! :)

I loved Everspace 2 so much that I have tried to find other games like it. It seems part of the developers from that studio splintered off and made Chorus, so I bought it at some point when it went on sale. I like it a bit. The main character's constant, emo narration started to wear on me. Its combat also relies heavily on very fast dogfighting with the main character using special powers to pull off special maneuvers. I just could not get very far into it. It just made me want to go back to Everspace 2.

I've actually thought it would be cool if Starfield implemented intra-system travel the way Everspace 2 did it: enter a cruise/auto-pilot mode that gives you prompts to engage in sensor contacts or distress calls as they are detected along your route.

I also bounced off of Chorus. Just didn't click for whatever reason.

I'd love to see larger explorable space areas similar to how they are implemented in E2. And they already have some, such as Etherea. More spots where you can poke around and interact with the environment would be a great addtion.
