(Missile) Lock On Range Extended
Community Rating
So in Starfield, space combat can begin at 6000 meters, as that is when the enemy appears on your hud and the auto-aim lets you fire your weapons (particle beams, lasers, ballistics).
But not missiles. Oh no. Missiles need to lock on first. And for some reason, the max lock on range is 2000 meters. So you can start lobbing bullets and lasers at your enemy, and potentially destroy them, before your missiles can ever lock on.
This seems strange to me. Missiles are supposed to be long range weapons, right? More long range than lasers and bullets? Bethesda seems to agree, since the "range" on missile weapons is longer than the other categories (up to 4800 or something with the right perks).
So missiles have 4000+ range, longer than any other weapon, but they can only lock on under 2000 meters.
Not anymore.
This mod increases lock-on range to 5000 meters. That gives you 1000 meters from detecting the enemy before you or they can start lobbing missiles. And, with the right perks, max missile range is around 4800 anyway.
This works for the Targeting Mode as well, since this is linked to Lock On in the game files (so a side effect of this mod is that you can snipe your enemy's engines from farther away too). But even if you don't have the Targeting Control System perk, this mod still lets missiles lock on from farther away.
Enjoy!
