BACKGROUND Giving some love to my fellow medics!

I'm an EMT in real life, and practically all the characters I have run so far have had the Combat Medic trait. As I played the game, I developed the background in my head-canon as to the training, organization, and mission of Combat Medics in the United Colonies, based on the Independent Duty Corpsmen of the United States Navy, who serve as medics for our Marines.

That inspired me to do the series of skins uploaded to Creations in this mod.

So, here's to all you NEC L10As, L02As, old-school 8404s, you Army 91Bs and old-school 68Ws (you know who you are), Air Force Parajumpers, as well as my brothers and sisters on the civilian side--EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics, Trauma Techs, and anyone who's just taken First Aid or CPR to help when a person is having his or her worst day.

The mod offers seven styles of craftable skins for all UC marine-style spacesuits, backpacks, and helmets:

Multi-Terrain-Pattern (MTP) basic corpsman MARPAT Woodland basic corpsman MARPAT Desert basic corpsman Urban Marpat pattern Force Recon corpsman NWU ("blueberry") digital pattern SysDef corpsman Red-Black-White digital pattern AntiXeno corpsman UCSec Tactical Medic

SKILL AND MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS The skins are craftable for any UC Marine spacesuit, helmet, or backpack at any spacesuit workbench.

Helmets and packs require 1 pigment Basic suits require 2 pigments Padded and Light Armored suits require 3 pigments Armored suits require 4 pigments

Skills requirement: Medicine-1 for all skins (it was meant for medics, after all).

This is the first phase in development of this mod. Future phases may include Navy uniforms (crew, officer, armored, etc) with the above corpsman themes, applying them to certain NPCs you encounter in certain scenarios, a recruitable NPC with a mini-quest, and if I'm feeling really ambitious, a full-blown NPC companion.

KNOWN ISSUES Because of the complexity of the UC Marine suit model (and because I am a newbie when it comes to Starfield modding--this is my debut), there are some tricks you have to know to make it work at the workbench.

Packs, basic suits and helmets are straightforward--simply pick the style of skin you want, and that's that.

More complex suits (padded, light armored, and armored) will have 2 or 3 entries for the same style. It's usually the 2nd or 3rd entry. You'll have to inspect the worn suit after crafting.

The same holds true for armored helmets, which have the armored plating imposed over the basic helmet model. Basic helmets are straightforward, armored helmets have 2 entries for each style.

Make sure you have enough pigments for the process, needless to say. It may be a pain, but consider it sort of a simulation for applying the paintjob yourself.

But, a neat side effect involves some mixing and matching between layers. I'll let players fool around with that and enjoy the combinations they discover.

I am not sure how well this plays with other UC Marine suit skin mods.

SPECIAL THANKS MonkeyChief117 for his permission to use his UC Marine designs as a base (make sure and check out his UC faction overhaul mod). He also ferreted out the labels of necessary items not automatically created by CK's AVMS.

FenHarellan for for his AVMS/Craftable Skin tutorial on Reddit.

DeShawn510 and Jeremy Ramos for their YouTube tutorials.

TOOLS USED FOR THIS MOD This mod was created with Bethesda's Creation Kit, Paint.net's image editor and occasionally, GIMP. Nifskope to figure out how the models were set up and what textures went where.
