ECS Asteria - Alt Start - Backrooms Expansion
Community Rating
= ECS Asteria: Alternate Start =
Welcome to the 2nd major release of ECS Asteria (formerly named "Project Asteria").
Upon starting a New Game, you will be immediately teleported to the ECS Asteria.
With an ongoing save, you can travel to the ECS Asteria in the Copernicus system to board it. (Note: Ongoing bug means you cannot board directly. Instead, stand up and activate your hatch.)
Here you are given the option to start a new beginning, or explore the expansive ship.
Also available on NexusMods for PC!
= The Story of Project Asteria =
You find yourself alone on a mysterious ship. The only way out is to make use of a terminal that is seemingly connected to a crystalline entity.
The player can access the Project Asteria archives to read the logs of Dr. L. Kanh, a scientist obsessed with the peculiar crystal.
Backrooms Expansion: You can now explore deeper into the ECS Asteria, through the rooms generated by the Crystalline Entity.
= Starting Locations =
United Colonies Space • New Atlantis • Londinion • Cydonia
Freestar Collective Space • Akila City • Neon • Hopetown • Niira
Independent Space • Charybdis III • Freya III • McClure II • Beta Marae I
House Va'ruun Space • Work in progress
Crimson Fleet Space • Work in progress
= Choose Your Ship =
By using the 'Project Asteria Terminal', you can choose from 15 ships. You will need to pay for ship registration before modifications.
Your ship won't land where you spawn, it will appear if you fast-travel beyond walking distance.
The ship choices are:
Starborn Guardian + Frontier (Default)
Discovery
Endeavor
UC Dagger
UC Econohaul
UC Transpo
Freestar Mustang
Freestar Rambler
Freestar Railstar
Va'ruun Dirge
Va'ruun Litany
Ecliptic Falcata
Crimson Fleet Ghost
Spacer Raven
Spacer Raccoon
= Main Quest Compatibility =
You begin with the quest "One Small Step" in your quest log, the same as regular NG+. You have the Starborn trait and dialogue options.
When you complete the game and begin NG+, you will appear once again at ECS Asteria.
= Author's Note =
I hope you enjoy! I created a similar popular mod for Skyrim called 'Realm of Lorkhan'.
Many people use my alternate starts as a 'mod testing chamber' to help you test out mods. You can easily jump to different locations, and the game begins quickly in an open state without intro or tutorial.
Creating Alternate Start mods can be a series of learning through mistakes... Rest assured that (most) of my mistakes were back in Skyrim! I've designed this to be as highly compatible and future-proof as possible.
= Credits & Thanks =
SKK Fast Start New Game, I referred to its scripts and rely on knowledge from those who came before.
Veerloth, for day 1 testing and reporting, and helping me expand on the storytelling themes of the mod! RlyehStudios, for reporting the first successful test! XeratosMX, for day 1 testing and suggestions. Unspacey, for first known Main Quest completion and successful entry into NG+. Townsgr, for identifying a bug with Main Quest completion and Unity dialogue, fixed in v1.2.2
Thanks also to you, for reading and/or testing out the mod!
