Additional Ship Components TAIYO ASTRONEERING
Overview ASC Taiyo introduces a set of hand-modelled ship parts, intended as a continuation of Bethesda's design universe, extrapolating additional product lines for different manufacturers. Where ASC Deimos leaned into rugged, utilitarian military hardware, Taiyo goes the other direction: sleek lines, monocoque designs, and the polished, design-forward sensibility that makes Taiyo the most aesthetically driven manufacturer in the base game. The focus here is on lighter B-class hulls and clean shapes.
I tried to fill the niches that felt underrepresented in the base game - or extend Taiyo's lineup into new shapes that combine more easily with other manufacturers' parts, since they're less bulbous: from compact pieces to a continuous cladding system that carries shapes across multiple habs, giving light freighters and corvettes the silhouette they deserve. Whether you're building a B-class strike craft or a corporate luxury vessel, these parts are meant to slot right in.
Features New Models Smaller cockpits to complement the larger bridges of the base game (one based on the existing Daimyo bridge), new B-class engines, cargo containers, fuel tanks, a shield generator, a scan jammer, two paneling systems, pylons, wings, and a lot of structural pieces. Some parts carry faction insignia, which no longer display in the ship builder since the last game update. To make building with them easier, the faction is written into the part name (e.g. "part name - UC").
Modularity Everything is built to work without merging (see the hinge module note below), but seasoned shipwrights will find plenty of room to play - vertical half-grid offsets and similar parts unlock even more options. All components are as modular as possible, so they combine freely with vanilla parts and with other mods.
The Seiji paneling system The Seiji paneling system does the heavy lifting when it comes to building continuous shapes across multiple habs. To keep things manageable, it's broken into sections A, B, C, and D. If you want gapless transitions, keep in mind that each section only connects seamlessly to its adjacent neighbours: a section B side panel will line up cleanly with one from section A or C, and so on. This was the only way to offer real flexibility without modelling literally hundreds of additional pieces - and the upside is genuinely worth it, I think. Once you get a feel for the sections, the system enables some seriously flexible cladding, from self-supporting wings all the way up to seamless hulls running across four habs or more on any axis.
Ships and a Ship Vendor Kiosk A new ship vendor kiosk has been added to the Taiyo showroom, offering the example ships from the banner images. They're built exclusively with this mod and base game assets, so you can take one home and start tweaking right away. The lineup includes: • TY-14D Marlin Light Dropship • TY-14T Barracuda Light Fighter • TY-17F Hayabusa Race Hull • TY-11R Shrike Recon Corvette • TY-22E Osprey Exploration Vessel • TY-19C Heron Executive Yacht
These are example ships meant to be built upon - I limited the parts in each to almost entirely ASC Taiyo components, so things will get a whole lot more interesting once you start pairing them with parts from other manufacturers...
Availability The new parts are sold alongside the regular Taiyo lineup at any vendor who normally stocks Taiyo (e.g. the Neon Ship Services Technician) and, of course, at the Taiyo Showroom in Neon's Ryujin Tower. They're also available in the outpost shipbuilder.
Balance Value, mass, and performance are all calibrated to sit alongside their vanilla counterparts to preserve balance and immersion. These parts sit in the upper performance bracket - which justifies Taiyo's premium pricing and base-game lore - and they take the rebalancing introduced in Terran Armada into account. Engines, for example, exceed vanilla performance by about 5-7% but pay for it in price; cargo bays almost match Terran Armada weight-to-capacity ratios at the cost of a much larger footprint to keep things fair. As with ASC Deimos, some structural components have a small hull rating, giving them a bit of light armor function. The addition is minor and intended as a narrative touch rather than a real balance lever.
Compatibility The new parts sort alongside the existing Taiyo components in the ship builder. Note that other mods changing sorting may cause some overlap depending on load order. The mod is safe to add mid-game. If you want to uninstall, please take the usual precautions and make sure none of your ships are currently using the added parts. Important: since the vendor kiosk is added to the Taiyo Astroneering showroom, make sure you're not currently in that cell when you install the mod. Finally, note that ASC Taiyo adds more than half a thousand custom pieces of geometry, plus textures, decals, and more. While I did my best to keep records at a minimum, please be aware of the engine's pointer limit if you're running a very large load order.
A note on the Hinge Module One piece of feedback from ASC Deimos was that some shipwrights wanted parts that worked without merging. The hinge module is where that promise costs something: to fit the pylon across many different configurations, the collision objects had to stay fairly loose. This has no influence on how the part behaves in the ship builder or in-game, but you will likely notice the loose collision if you walk on that specific module. Given how rarely that comes up in actual play, I decided to go with accessibility. Cycle through the versions to find the right variant for any orientation.

Credit A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this mod possible!
Most importantly: • Bethesda - for their absolutely stunning concept art • CrimsonFlyboy - for all his Starfield streams and the perfect entertainment during countless late-night modeling sessions • DownfallNemesis - for still patiently answering all my noob questions and helping me cut the pointer handles • FenHarellan - for her great CK videos in general, and for pointing me in the right direction when snaps failed me • Hjalmere - for helping get the navmeshes on the cockpits working. I swear I would've deleted the cockpits from the mod entirely if he hadn't helped me figure it out... • JRamosWorks - for his CK videos in general, and the vendor kiosk tutorial in particular • ZeeOgre - for the tools that made publishing on Xbox such a breeze
