True Select Fire
Community Rating
True Select Fire brings fully dynamic, receiver‑based fire‑mode switching to Starfield Creations!
On installation, you’ll receive a Fire Rate Selector in your Aid items. Assign it to any quick slot and use it to cycle fire modes on any eligible equipped weapon. Lose it? Equip a new weapon and it's freshly in your inventory ready to select the next mode.
On-screen mode notifications confirm each change, and you can disable them in Gameplay Options if you prefer a cleaner HUD.
Single tap, double tap, or triple! Advance to the next mode in sequence, or skip ahead to the next!
Vanilla Fire Modes is default in Gameplay Settings, this includes 12 weapons base weapons with selectable receivers. True Select Fire expands this with additional plausible fire‑rate options available by enabling Extended Fire Modes, this unlocks:
Eon - automatic in place of binary
Inflictor Rifle - automatic
Kodama - semi‑automatic
Magpulse - automatic
Magshear - semi‑automatic
Novablast - automatic
Orion - burst fire
Russian Assault Rifle - semi‑automatic
Russian Hunting Rifle - automatic
Tombstone - semi‑automatic
Nova Weapon Enhancements Selectable fire modes created the perfect opening to give Nova weapons meaningful secondary functionality. Novalight and Novablast now feature chargeable non‑lethal semi‑auto and lethal secondary fires. Set for stun!
Gameplay & Balance A handful of fire rates and magazine counts have been minutely adjusted to better match the pacing of selectable modes. Extended fire option damages are balanced against vanilla DPS expectations and fit naturally into the existing TTK.
Engine Limitation Notice The core system cannot distinguish between multiple copies of the same base weapon in your inventory safely without error or loss of weapon customization and every exhaustible option was tried to avoid this ultimately an unavoidable and known engine limitation without script extenders to read the current equipped weapon vs other copies in inventory. If you equip a duplicate, a message will prompt you and prevent mode cycling on that weapon. This avoids unsafe workarounds and keeps the system stable. To work around this, I recommend passing off duplicates of what your using to companions, select the mode you're willing to stay in for duplicates you wish to carry and forfeit selectable fire rates for that weapon, and stash duplicates of weapons and return for loot or collect them after combat is completed.
Creation Friendly by Design Once you get used to selecting fire modes on the fly, it’s hard to play without it! That’s why True Select Fire was built from the ground up to support creation weapons and future content. Patches are small, clean with only a few edits, and self‑contained; meaning no edits to the core systems or complicated setups. Authors can take advantage of all systems with extended mode options, custom fire rate messages, and more just like True Select Fire does for vanilla Starfield.
