This mod is one in a set of four alternatives that provides hard-coded overrides in order to allow one to construct ships larger than the default 80m limit in Starfield. These mods will also increase the maximum number of modules that one can use when constructing a ship.

These alternatives are hard-coded because the internal APIs that allow the Windows version of the Ship Builder Configurator mod to dynamically override the ship size limits were removed from the XBox version of Starfield. Each of these preset mods captures the settings that the Windows version of Ship Builder Configurator makes when enabling large ships.

The following table shows what the specific overrides that each of the four preset mods provides. Pick the one that suits your needs:

Big Ships: 120m x 120m x 60m, 400 modules Really Big Ships: 160m x 160m x 80m, 600 modules Silly Big Ships: 200m x 200m x 100m, 800 modules Dreadnought Ships: 400m x 400m x 200m, 1600 modules

Ship Builder UI

Note that the sizes displayed on the Ship Builder UI floor grid are the distance from the ship's center line. Hence, ships are twice the size that is displayed on the floor grid in the Ship Builder UI.

Advisory

Constructing ships that are larger than the 80mx80mx40m limit found in the base game can cause issues during game play. In some cases, larger ships may experience clipping problems at some landing sites which can make parts of the ship and/or the landing bay inaccessible.

The author has also seen posts on various social media channels where players have reported either performance problems or actual game crashes when constructing very large ships or ships with a very large number of modules. These problems arise because the game engine was designed with the 80mx80mx40m and 130 module limits in mind. Exceeding those limits can cause the game engine to experience problems. Players reporting these issues have indicated that the solution was to rebuild their ship on a more modest scale.

Load Order

If one has multiple mods that try to make hard-coded changes to the ship size limits, the one that appears last in the load order will be the one that determines the ship size limits.

Plugin Removal

This plugin alters a collection of internal game settings that control not only the maximum ship size in the ship builder, but also the maximum size of a land-able ship. If one constructs an over-sized ship and then removes this plugin, the ship will remain usable in space, but one will not be able to land the ship nor modify the ship in the ship builder (without reducing the size of the ship to the standard 80m x 80m x 40m limits).
