Latest enhancements on the site
Reply to reviews, forum cleanup, quick mod search, etc.
Been adding more features on the site I wanted to call out for those that follow the site.
Reply to Mod Reviews
Per user reminder/request, I added the ability to start a thread of discussion in reply to mod reviews users post on the site. This should let mod authors address any feedback they receive directly as well as let other users contribute to the discussion if they like.
Forum Updates
The main forum page received a few updates:
- I tried cleaning up the board view and flag posts vs. comments clearer while drifting a bit more toward traditional message boards
- Now that you can have multi-threaded discussions on both photos and mod reviews, I've added them as pseudo boards here on the forums.
- Updated the latest activity section on the forums so you can more easily see all the latest comments on the site regardless of where they were made.
Quick Mod Search from the Menu
For both desktop and mobile, I added a quick mod search form to help users get to mods quicker anywhere on the site. Just click or tap into the search form under Mods in the header/mobile menu and the autocompletion as you type will show right there for you to quickly jump to a given mod.
Several Mobile-friendly Fixes
I updated areas of the site like the homepage and photo section to be easier to browse on mobile. Some of the text/link wrapping should be improved and the photos should show full width on mobile for easier browsing. I know there are more things I want to improve for mobile, so more fixes will be coming for other areas.
Added new Photo Tags
Per user request, I added the Secret and Easter Eggs photo tags you can start using on your uploaded photos.
Other Items
- Added the ability for the site to actively monitor several big news outlets for articles about Starfield. All new articles detected go into a pending state for me to review before they appear on the site. I also added the ability to manually inject articles into the feed on the homepage.
- Updated some of my admin tools to let me do more things like add/edit/delete photo tags quicker and monitor for more YouTube clips.
- I tried my hand at adding the ability to register/login with Google accounts, but it turns out that will cost me a non-trivial monthly fee to support. So we'll stick to just old-school email + password logins for now. 😅
