Encounters! Adds encounters to your playable map! Ever wanted to be rewarded for your adventures? Bored of seeing only nature on your drives away from POIs? Now there will be a chance you can encounter something never seen before you installed this mod! Enjoy my absolute most favorite mod made to date!
Do you want to see POIs on the way to POIs? Be rewarded for just randomly walking or driving in one direction? Enjoy a bit of chaos and challenge?
Encounters! Is my third and final Stand Alone Expansion for GRiNDTerra Planetary Procedural Generation. It has no requirements, not even the main mod!
Warning! Make a save and backup before adding to your game. You have been warned. Some of these encounters are very high difficulty and can take you by surprise. Some of these were designed to try to murder you. But this is my favorite mod thus far and hope you find it as enjoyable!
Credit where credits due Seriously a huge thanks to S1nderion for holding my hand and pretty much doing the heavy lifting to get GAMEPLAY OPTIONS!!!
What does this do exactly Adds the ability for encounters to randomly spawn on your playable maps. You can now change the chance of the encounters spawning in the gameplay options!* (See above) These can be anything from a crashed ship in the process of being looted to a cave with environmental protection. Every NEW landing site (playable map) encounters will be RANDOMLY placed. Each encounter can only spawn once per map, and there are certain restrictions in place for some encounters. (If the Biome supports life, or Faction Ownership)
But how are these not POI? These are premade sets just randomly placed on your map. The goal of doing it this way is that there is something to do and look forward to between POIs and not taking their spot in the generation. The downside is it is possible for them to spawn kind of close to POI as it really is random. Every encounter will be different because they can happen anywhere, different geography and it can also interfere with the preset placement causing a new layout. POIs will be the same every time.
Loot? Yes! Some of these encounters (not all) have loot placed in them. Some will give the same loot each time, but most are set to have a 50% chance of spawning. So each time you encounter these you might find something new!
DLC Expansion Pack It will require all DLC. I am in no means working on this as I am patiently waiting until the updates and DLC cycle ends. I only released this now as it is salvage from Grindfield. Only requires THIS mod right here.
Compatibility Compatible with every mod out there! This adds its own branch for spawning to the PCM! HIGHLY RECCOMMEND BEDLAM DUNGEON RANDOMIZER! IT WILL AFFECT THIS MOD WHICH IS AWESOME!!!!
Known Issues and ways to alleviate NPCs when they spawn in spawn in the middle of the encounter, not their designated spot. They will move and sandbox around like they are supposed to, but it takes a minute after spawning the encounter. Sometimes they may need to teleport at the beginning to get back in the sandbox. Take your time and do not rush the process. Flying vehicles tend to make this issue worse as you are way above to witness.
There is one encounter where there is a fifty fifty chance of the encounter failing and killing itself. I find this hilarious and not an issue. You will know it when you encounter it.
Clipping, weird elevation. Since these spawn completely randomly, there is a chance they will clip into terrain or will seem oddly elevated. It is also possible the encounter buildings do not spawn in exact location. NPCs May clip through some parts if stuck. Be patient and let the NPC AI do what it needs to do. It is rare, but possible the NPC can’t get unstuck. Recommend murder and move on.
Since these spawn randomly it is possible for an encounter to spawn near POI or quests.
LOD. These “pop in” and do not have LOD. At the moment it doesn’t seem possible to LOD these but if you prove me wrong I will monumentalize you in my mod. If you use flying vehicles or moving too fast (like with mods or cc) it can cause more issues vs walking/driving. Sometimes the encounter won’t spawn with 100% of its items or NPCs. Recommend against using flying/super speed vehicles honestly everything will always look better.
Battlezones won’t trigger until everything “pops in”. For example if you encounter the defenders but are too far away for the attackers to load in the battle won’t start until you get closer to the attackers and vice versa. This can lead to unpredictable outcomes.

This is gradually becoming one of my favorite mods to enhance the experience of exploring a planet. Now I can be walking around a planet or moon and suddenly hear gunfire in the distance. I look around to see tracer fire in some direction. There's no POI markers for it. They are just random encounters I can ignore or join in. I tend to join in and, at some point, lob a NPC Spawner Dangerzone grenade to add to the growing chaos :)
