The Den - Last Stop Before The Dark
Community Rating
For smugglers operating across the Settled Systems, The Den has long been an essential stopover. Officially protected by the United Colonies, the station has nevertheless been largely neglected over the years, gradually becoming a discreet grey zone where the legality of certain transactions is often left intentionally unquestioned. A situation the Trade Authority has learned to take full advantage of.
In its vanilla state, however, The Den feels strangely empty and underused for such a strategic location. Beyond repairing your ship or selling contraband far from the eyes of the UC, there is little reason for players to truly spend time there.
This mod aims to preserve the original identity of The Den while making the station feel more believable, lived-in and roleplay-friendly.
Rather than turning it into a massive overhaul, the goal was to expand upon Bethesda’s original vision and reinforce the idea that The Den remains both a forgotten witness of UC history and a modest outpost still maintained by the Vanguard.
Hidden deep within the Wolf System, this aging military station has slowly evolved into a small transit hub for long-haul pilots, smugglers, frontier workers and young Vanguard recruits trying to restore some relevance to this isolated checkpoint at the edge of UC space. It has also become a gathering place for UC veterans and former soldiers, nostalgic for a fading era and the old military presence that once occupied the station.
Rough around the edges, partially worn down by time and only lightly maintained, The Den now stands as one of the last civilized stops before the darkness of deep space.
Welcome to THE DEN : Last Stop Before The Dark.
🔵 FEATURES
LAYOUT : NEW AREAS
The mod adds 2 new fully decorated areas :
- Temporary transit quarters for visiting captains accessible through the bar
- Dedicated UC/Vanguard quarters accessible from the upper Vanguard section
These new areas include decorated corridors leading to bunk rooms and utility spaces (toilets, showers). The overall atmosphere intentionally remains modest and utilitarian in order to respect the lore and identity of the station. The player can sleep there if they manage to find an available bed.

NOTES :
- AI package loading may behave strangely when first entering the station (SHIP CELL behavior), and some NPCs may remain idle for a few seconds before properly using their routines. Waiting 1 in-game hour while sitting on a bench usually resolves the issue.
- To properly benefit from outfit changes : the cell may need to reset first (new game or spending a few in-game days away from the station).
