Modular Explosive Delivery System (MEDS)

The Modular Explosive Delivery System (MEDS) is a safety solution created for the hardworking miners who venture out into the depths of the known and unknown outer systems of space! The MEDS kit consists of a selection of craftable, deployable and remotely controlled explosive tools tailored for keeping the risk of mining crew casualties and fatalities down to a minimum whilst providing maximum utility in the miner's field of work. Though originally developed for lawful use, confidential UC Security reports suggest MEDS drones have been repurposed for nefarious activity by Spacers and Crimson Fleet operatives, raising concerns over their growing black-market presence.

MEDS Remote Detonation

MEDS Payload Variants:

Explosive – Standard blast radius for general purpose. Explosive High Yield – Increased destructive power for fortified targets. Stun Gas – Temporarily incapacitates targets within the cloud radius. Toxic Gas – Inflicts persistent damage over time via a toxic dust cloud that leaves long lasting residue on surrounding environment and targets.

All payloads are equipped with Anvil Manufacturing's patented, multi-surface adhesive 'Dekastik' strips for precise placement and an unyielding grip. The MEDS Detonator can signal to the payloads to release their grip via an internal heating system that reduces the adhesive's bond temporarily.

MEDS Detonator:

The MEDS Detonator is a handheld lightweight device used to trigger/disarm placed explosive payloads. Operator can disarm placed explosives using ironsights/ADS. Standard issue equipment; not craftable. Available for purchase at authorized resellers.

MEDS Drones

MEDS Hunter Drone:

An autonomous impact drone, originally for use in the far reaches of space in unknown caves where alien life could pose a threat to a mining crew. Guards the operator when idle and will follow until a threat is detected or retrieved by the operator. Primed with four rear thrusters to help precision strike when a threat is detected.

MEDS Remote Drone:

Controlled by the operator in real-time via the Anvil Field Tablet. Ideal for scouting, flanking, and delivering payloads to hard-to-reach or fortified positions in cavernous tunnels! DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: Fully compatible with Photo Mode, offering operators stunning new angles and unprecedented creative freedom for capturing cinematic vistas and battlefield moments alike. DIGITAL CINEMATOGRAPHY : STAR POWER input will blink the HUD upon first attempt to use (incase of a mistake), it will then stop the HUD and drone lens glass from rendering for free cam capture (There will still be the drone ambient SFX though).

Crafting Requirements

Payloads and drones are crafted at the Industrial Workbench. Requires relevant materials and the Demolitions perk (Level 1+). Detonators are not craftable, but may be purchased from authorized resellers.

New Enemy Types

Originally designed for industrial excavation and defensive operations, MEDS kits have since been co-opted for far more dangerous purposes. In Crimson Fleet assaults, dedicated Drone Operators coordinate swarms to shield their crews and flush targets from cover. Spacer snipers, meanwhile, keep watch from afar, patiently picking off stragglers as assisting Drone Operators use drones to sweep in low to harass, disorient, and destroy. When the sky fills with the hum of blades, it’s already too late.

[IMPORTANT] - KNOWN ISSUES

PC users using Engine Fixes will have to make the following change to stop the Remote Drone experience from being compromised; In "Starfield\Data\SFSE\Plugins\StarfieldEngineFixes.ini", set "bFixUnequipAll=1" to "bFixUnequipAll=0". Custom skins do not show on the player remote drone operator (Object Mod related, looking into a solution). Currently afflictions taken on by the player in Remote Drone mode can carry back to the player after drone mode is over. We tried our best to prevent this but it doesn't look like it can be done with current limitations w
