---->MEMORANDUM FOR: Intelligence Agent Trainee [Name Redacted] ---->From: Agent Plato
---->Subject: Required Master Infiltration Training (Self-Study)
---->Message Begins
Agent,
I am delighted to hear that the first weeks of agent training are going well for you. Prior to beginning your next phase of training, you are required to complete a self-study module regarding the art of lock manipulation and system penetration. I'm sure the value of this training to a field intelligence agent is self-evident.
Your advisor has scheduled your training for today. Please proceed to the AEGIS offices in MAST as soon as possible. A copy of the AEGIS training manual has been left out for you in the interrogation room. As I'm sure you recall, this room is in the rear of the office, straight ahead as you enter the AEGIS section. The manual is bright red, so you should have no problem locating it.
The training will teach you how to get much greater value out of each lock you successfully defeat in the field. This will allow you to take much greater advantage of the auto-slotting features of modern digipicks. Proper study may even allow you to eventually open a lock or penetrate a system using just the auto-slotting feature.
All our trainees are expected to come to AEGIS with master-level security skills. If this is not true in your case, this training may be of limited value until you have elevated your own skill set to the master level. While the claims that reading multiple manuals will further improve your infiltration skills are, to some extent, true, I can assure you that the rumors of additional volumes being available are completely unfounded.
If you have any questions, my open-door policy remains in effect. Please be aware, however, that if there are personnel in the area that are lacking the necessary security clearance, I will be unable to speak to you regarding this matter.
I want to thank you for your dedication to the safety of the people of the United Colonies, and all the peoples of the settled systems.
-Agent Plato, AEGIS Director

====================================================== DESCRIPTION This mod places a magazine in MAST that increases the amount of auto slots you gain for opening a lock, as well as increases the amount of slots you can bank.
WHY? Every so often I come across a Reddit post complaining about the lock picking mini game, looking for an "auto-open" mod. I think the lock picking mini game is brilliant, and enjoyed it for a long time. I'm now level 147, have hacked thousands of locks, and can use a break!
This mod is the simplest solution I can think of. There are no scripts, or major changes. The perk magazine merely increases two actor values, so you can use auto-slots to open the whole lock (once you reach max rank).
DETAILED DESCRIPTION Essentially, this mod increases how many autoslots you get for opening locks, allowing you to bank enough slots to open all looks using only the autoslot feature. It provides this via skill magazines that increase the two actor values that affect autoslotting. There are no scripts or changes to the lock-picking minigame. You'll open locks the same way you always have-you'll just have alot more autoslots. The mod is called "Master Infiltrator", as it is the Starfield equivalent to the auto-unlock feature of the Fallout 76 Master Infiltrator Legendary Perk card.
The magazine has four ranks. Each rank increases how many auto-slots you are awarded for each lock you open. For example, the first rank will award two full auto-slots for each novice lock you open; 3 for advanced; 4 for expert; and 5 for master.
While the magazine(s) won't AUTOMATICALLY open a lock for you, you will eventually build up enough auto-slots so you can open any lock using just the auto-slot feature. The mod is designed for players that have already opened hundreds (or thousands) of locks, and would like to take a break from the lock picking mini game. This is the simplest way I can think of doing so. The magazines WILL work for characters with low security rank, but the game won't turn on autoslotting until rank 1. This mod works best with rank 3 or 4.
INSTALLATION Load order will only matter if you have other mods that significantly change the AEGIS floor of MAST. Place it low in your load order, and only raise it if the magazine doesn't appear.
You may add at any time, but as stated above, this mod is "designed" for characters with a security perk of 3 or more(the level you need to open all locks).
This mod is a small master only, with no scripts, meshes, etc.
FAQ
-
Where is the first magazine? It is on the AEGIS floor of MAST. Take the MAST elevator to the floor that says Defense Research/Health and Human Services/AEGIS. The entrance to the AEGIS offices is straight ahead and slightly to the right. After you enter, continue straight ahead to the small staircase down and enter the empty room that looks like an interrogation room. The magazine is sitting on the table. THERE ARE PICTURES IN THE PICTURE GALLEY BELOW TO SHOW YOU WHERE TO GO.

Are there others? Sure! There will be one waiting for you on your next NG+
2A. "That's funny. Let's see how much of a comedian you are when I have you strapped to the outside of my ship without a space suit" Right... Sorry. There is a rumor that the classified document container holding the other copies has been... misplaced. Since the elevator would prevent their removal from the floor, its gotta be somewhere nearby... If you do obtain any additional copies, you will need to drop them on the floor and pick them back up for the perk to activate.

Will this mod allow me to open higher level locks? No. It makes no changes to your ability to open a particular lock. For example, to open a Master level lock, you will still need Security Rank 3.

Should I get this mod here, or the Nexus Mods version? Your choice. They are the same. The Nexus Mods posting is mostly so people can provide feedback.

XBOX version? I posted the XBOX version on 12/18/2024. I have NOT had an opportunity to test it on XBOX. Do a hard backup and do your best guinea pig imitation.
