Exigent Circumstances: Forsaken

EC: Forsaken has been rebuilt with full Free Lanes compatibility and integration. There is enough content, systems, and quality of life enhancements that it could literally be your only mod (I think I run five trophy friendly mods on PS5?)! Forsaken has completely new gear, new ships, new enemies, a new vehicle, new powers, new enemy ship encounters, capital ship encounters, new weapon and armor perks and much more. My focus when making Forsaken was to transform the NG+ experience without altering any existing systems--not only for compatibility with other mods, but to make something entirely unique. To do this, I had to create my own systems, and this was accomplished by creating over 120 fully custom, brand-new scripts. These systems work flawlessly with the new Legendary and X-Tech systems, allowing you to use all of the custom perks Forsaken provides for any weapon or armor--even for any mod or DLC as long as it is compatible with the Free Lanes update, no patch required!
How is EC: Forsaken different from EC: Starborn? If you have Starborn installed, please get your reward before uninstalling it, it will give you 1000 FE in Forsaken! Your added Starpower and AI crew skills will carry over, if you want to reset your Starpower, you will need to go through Unity without Starborn or Forsaken installed. If you want to reset your AI crew skills, simply remove piloting functions at the AI terminal
Scimitar is now obtained during the start-up quest. Also, after unlocking Scimitar Omega, the ability to craft the AI terminal on ANY ship is unlocked, including a remote device that works for any home ship! In addition to this, I wanted to add more QoL changes and incorporate features from the patches I created for EC: Starborn directly into Forsaken in order to add depth and features while allowing the mod to remain achievement friendly. So far, I have incorporated the Xeno Master Patch (thank you Ghostrider!), and a greatly expanded version of the Invasion patch that includes capital ship battles (more below). Lastly, because of the changes with Free Lanes (mainly, getting powers with Quantum Essence) I removed the need for multiple Unity trips in order to unlock everything. However, if you still want to get your powers the old-fashioned way, Scimitar will raise all of your Starborn powers by one at the start of each new NG cycle until they are maxed. Unlike previous versions in the EC series, Forsaken only requires you to go through the Unity once. Forsaken uses a combination of level requirements and tiered unlocks based on spending Forsaken Essence.
What you get with EC: Forsaken:
Full gear compatibility and synergy with the new X-Tech systems. Using the X-Tech system, the Exigent custom perks can now be added to any spacesuit, helmet, boost pack or weapon available in game or in ANY mod that is compatible with Free Lanes (see screenshots for a better explanation). So, whether you want to stick with a single suit of armor or weapon with pre-installed perks that you can craft with Forsaken Essence on Scimitar or lean into the X-Tech system to make three separate pieces plus new weapon combos, the choice is yours! Staying true to the spirit of the Exigent Circumstances mods, there are a few items that can only be crafted with multiple NG+ runs, and these items are very powerful (see screenshots).
High Level Forsaken Ship Encounters. -By changing game play options, up to six Forsaken Scythe variants and Forsaken Dreadnought capital ship variants will invade every faction. These encounters are tough!! Unlike regular Starborn ships, these Forsaken Scythes can be boarded and taken over, and each faction variant has a unique appearance. The capital ship dreadnoughts make for an extremely challenging boarding encounter, with up to 50 Forsaken enemies onboard. *These dreadnoughts are Class M ships and not designed to be piloted. After unlocking Scimitar Omega, you can even unlock a final showdown with The Forsaken One!
Runtime Injected, High Level Enemies --The startup quest adds Forsaken enemies at runtime (You are able to remove Forsaken from any faction once per universe, if you choose). Tied to your save, this method makes load order issues irrelevant. The Forsaken are tough, but for even more of a challenge their damage output can be increased by 200% or even 500% for additional experience in game settings. Whether it's Ecliptic, Spacers, House Va'ruun, Crimson Fleet, Neon Syndicate, regular Starborn, or even The First--Forsaken variants will be everywhere! That means, more Forsaken Essence.
Completely New Resource and Economy --Forsaken Essence is a new resource dropped by Forsaken. FE is used for literally everything in this mod--From upgrading powers, crafting new and powerful weapons/ armor/clothing/crafting ammo, triggering space battles, and much, much more. It also works seamlessly with the new X-Tech system. For example: Scimitar allows you to spend FE for AI crew functions (replacing crew members' skills) that work for any ship (these upgrades persist through Unity jumps). X-Tech allows you to upgrade individual ship functions, and both systems work together flawlessly.
Increased Offensive Powers and Lock Auto-Hacking --Once you raise your powers to rank 10, you can use the AI terminal to convert Particle Beam and Gravity Wave into high powered alternatives. Particle Beam gains a black hole effect, which does massive damage and pulls targets into a small area for two seconds, delivering a devastating DoT effect. --Gravity Wave becomes Neutrino Blast, which not only launches targets away from you, but ignites them in searing flames. It also has variable intensity, adjusted in game settings Please uninstall Proper Gravity Wave if you have it, it will nerf your Neutrino Blast. --After unlocking Scimitar Omega, as long as your security skill is rank 4, you can use Forsaken Essence to purchase the ability to auto-hack all locks and terminals that can be hacked using FE and Starpower with a 90% success rate.
Alternate Skill Leveling System/Disable standard leveling --Experience gains can be completely disabled (this does not change difficulty modifiers, it just multiplies exp gains by 0). This can be done for whatever reason and doing so unlocks the ability to purchase skill points with Forsaken Essence. So, if you want to cap your level at say, 200, but continue to gain skill points, you can do that.
AI terminal + Remote Device (after unlocking Scimitar Omega, you will be able to build the AI terminal on ANY ship, with a remote that also works with any ship). --The AI terminal is the heart of this mod, everything you can do in this mod is accomplished with over 120 completely custom scripts. Everything done at the AI terminal is brand new, so you are guaranteed a unique experience. --A remote device (can be hot-keyed/favorited) that acts as a link to Scimitar and allows you to check your Forsaken Essence amount, teleport directly to the interior of your ship, summon Scimitar to your location (30 seconds from use to ship landing in front of you!), Summon your vehicle, access Scimitar's cargo hold, payoff all of your bounties at a discount, remotely access all mission boards, completely heal you from all injuries/environmental damage (requires ALL of your Starpower and 1 FE) and even create a GalBank Encryption key that allows you to transfer all of your credits through Unity.
Death Effects with Auto-Loot Adjustable in Game Play Options Certain weapons cause unique death effects, completely disintegrating targets and automatically sending all loot to your inventory with a critical hit kill! Additionally, after upgrading Particle Beam to Black Hole, and Gravity Wave to Neutrino Blast, if a target dies while under the effect of the DoT component of either spell, the target will also disintegrate, sending all loot to your inventory.
Customized Vehicles! Little Scimmy--Every ship needs a matching vehicle! Based on the Rev-8, Little Scimmy is stored automatically inside Scimitar. Features include vastly increased boost duration, top speed, and a high damage automatic particle turret. Little Scimmy is available to build at the AI terminal immediately with Forsaken Essence!
Chonkers--Based on the Moon Jumper, Chonkers also has a custom appearance and is stored automatically inside Scimitar Omega (Omega has both vehicles inside!). Chonkers is available to build after finding both the Moon Jumper and unlocking Scimitar Omega. Chonkers features improved speed and boost duration, and the weapon turret features the same destructive plasma beam found in the weapon Starfire...and can even disintegrate targets in a fiery conflagration (with auto-loot)!
Custom Outpost Landing Pad with Shipbuilder functions. --An Adjustable height, full size landing pad can be built at your outpost for easy landing pad positioning (the large vanilla pad is so hard to place!!).
Many quality-of-life adjustments. --Long range missile lock, spaceship docking and debris looting distance vastly increased, ship builder max size vastly increased, ship landing size vastly increased, vehicle boost height vastly increased, Crimson Fleet Questline final reward greatly increased, gravity wave fixed plus adjustable intensity levels, fall injury chance vastly reduced (still take fall damage, but no more broken ankles!).
EC: Forsaken can work anywhere in your load order, personally, I keep it near the very top. Any issues, find me on the Darkstar Discord @Khylarin Enjoy and good hunting!
