Good Food

Food in Starfield is beautiful, but it is mechanically terrible. We need some Good Food! All craftable, restaurant-exclusive, and served food and drink items are modified to be useful. Food is now specialized:
· Most foods and drinks just heal. The healing is now based on a percentage of your health like Med Packs. The values are much lower and the durations much longer. Because the UI won't show decimals, the description instead tells you how much of your max health will be healed over the total duration. There are a few items that do heal faster, but they are still much slower than Med Packs and they cost more to craft. A few comfort foods will also heal an equal amount of environmental damage.
· Some foods and drinks buff stats, and they won't do anything but buff. No more healing on these items.
· A few drinks now cure status ailments, so you can rely entirely on food instead of medicine if you want. These will come with some minor side-effects, because they are all alcoholic. As with buff foods, these do not also heal anymore. Drink to your health!
Expect a Gastronomy/Nutrition character to be just as good as a Medicine/Chemistry character always has been. Medicines are faster and lighter, but food has large variety so there's always something you can craft. Foods aren't as strong without skill investment, but Nutrition can boost their effects and they last quite long. Both food and medicine are now fairly even, rather than medicine just being vastly superior, and of course players can use both to have tons of good options.
