Sanctuary - Spaceship Overhaul
Your Spaceship is a core part of any Starfield character. It is your home, and how you build it reflects on your character as much as any other roleplaying choice. However, from a mechanical sense, some options are always right and some wrong, leading to most ships feeling the same in practice. This creation fixes that, enhancing the shipbuilding process by making every hab and ship part useful.
Crew Requirements
Your crew should be the core of your ship, but in vanilla, they are never necessary. This changes that, making crew members necessary to keep your ship running in top shape. By default, one crew member is needed for every one hundred mass above five hundred; otherwise, your weapons and speed suffer a ten percent debuff for each missing crew member. This means that a massive ship needs a massive crew to keep it running, while a tiny ship just for you can be run without any help.
Passenger Slots
These were unnecessary in vanilla, as they only counted for ferry missions. Now, to have a crew member on your ship, you need to give them a passenger slot as well as a crew slot. This way is more natural, as each crew member needs a bed and a job to be a functioning crew member.
Generic Crew
The above changes mean that you will need to take on generic crew members if you want to run a large ship. So the generic crew members have been given an upgrade. There are now thirty of them, all individuals with names, outfits, and perks that give them life and allow you to choose the ones that fit your ship the best.
Ship Command
This skill is now needed more than ever, so it has been moved up to the second rank so you can get it earlier, It now gives five to twenty crew slots depending on your skill level.
Cargo Habs
These did nothing in vanilla, so they have been buffed to increase cargo capacity and are now significantly heavier.
Infirmaries/Science Labs
In vanilla, these were worthless, so they have now been buffed. You can heal yourself at any Pharmaceutical Lab on your ship, making them now essential to your character's survival.
Particle Weapons
These were the only choice in vanilla, doing more damage and more evenly than other options, making most weapons redundant. To fix this, they have been given a thirty percent debuff to their recharge times, making them still useful, but not always the only option.
Purchasing Habs
Finding the hab you want is no longer a chore, as the three major cities now sell all ship parts for all the manufacturers.
Most of the above options can be tweaked using the gameplay settings menu.
