Patches the TN's TechRunner by TheOGTennessee into DarkStar by WykkydGaming.

Important Note

The current version of this patch is v1.2. You can check in-game by opening the DarkStar Resource Crafting bench; there's a slate recipe called -DarkStar TechRunner Patch v1.2.

Versions v1.1 and v1.1.2 included a bug in the DarkStar research projects which prevented them from working with "Research With Data" gameplay option enabled (which it is by default when installing TechRunner). While the research would show complete in the research workbench, the underlying state was mixed up leading to odd results. See Appendix 1 at the bottom of this page for more info. Disable the gameplay option and open the research bench to see the actual state of your research projects. A completed status here will be reflected in the rest of your game.

Updating to v1.2 mid-game should be safe. Any research projects you complete after the update, "Research With Data" on or off, should work as intended, but there isn't a way (yet!) to retroactively sync the projects. If you had the RWD gameplay option enabled and completed the DarkStar Quality Research 2 project, for instance, you will need to disable the option and redo the research using Copper, a Phillips Screwdriver and Claw Hammer as Wykkyd intended. Plus the game engine itself does not allow for undoing research projects, so enjoy whichever Codex research projects you got by accident.

Big shout out to TheOGTennessee for their help in getting this patch working correctly. Thank you, TN! An update to TechRunner is in the works which, among other things, will re-sync completed research projects when you change the Research With Data gameplay option.

Boilerplate

This mod is an INTEGRATION PATCH. Both of these mods work just fine side by side without this patch. What this mod accomplishes is (a partial, for now) integration between the original and DarkStar, so that the original's assets can take better advantage of DarkStar's features. If you are seeking an achievement friendly playthrough, you can safely use the original mods together without issue. However, if you want to experience the original mod alongside DarkStar's entire featureset and gain access to the special features provided by this integration patch, then you will, of course, need this integration patch installed. Usage of this patch is entirely optional, and at the discretion of each individual player.

Requirements

  • REQUIRES: DarkStar (paid creation)
  • REQUIRES: TN's TechRunner (paid creation)

What does this do?

Adds Malware and Jailbreak slots to Mk.II Cyberware

Adds the FormList for Malware research to prevent missing categories at the research bench.

Mk.II Neuroamps can be modified with the following Jailbreaks instead of the different levels of NeuroBoost, NeuroCom, or NeuroTac (requires Mechanics 4, but no research yet):

  • AoE
  • Damage
  • Distance
  • Duration
  • Efficient
  • Stealthy
  • Xeno

Adds Data versions of some DarkStar research projects. I'm very much looking for feedback on these recipes. Message me in the #manicpolymath-mods channel in the DarkStar Discord server with suggestions.

  • Quality Research 2 - 7
  • Proprietary Legendaries
  • Hard-Tack Burger
  • Veteran's Brew
  • Enhanced Manufacturing (each)
  • Particle Cores
  • Vile Weapon Manufacturing
  • Volatile Ammo

Armor and Weapon legendary codex recipes are unchanged.

Future Plans

  • Add DarkStar Data types?
  • Add DarkStar Malware and/or Jailbreaks

Load Order

  • TN's TechRunner (tntechrunner.esm)
  • DarkStar.esm
  • DarkStar - TechRunner Patch

Appendix 1: Mismatched FormLists

TechRunner's "Research With Data" gameplay option and internal systems require two copies of each research project, for "Vanilla" and "Data". These are kept in sync via two form lists fed into scripts in the parent TechRunner mod. For example, if you research the Data version of DarkStar Quality Research 2, the system should also mark the Vanila (i.e., non-data) version complete and thus unlock both versions of DarkStar Quality Research 3.

However, prior to v1.2 of this patch, the two lists had different ordering between them, confusing the system and leading to these symptoms when researching Quality Research 2 with Data:

  1. Calibrated-quality enhancements on Mk.II or Mk.III gear, Quality Research 3, and the Enhanced gear Manufacturing research projects remained disabled
  2. Lacerate Codex vanilla research would be completed with recipes and items visible at the relevant DarkStar kiosks and workbenches, as well as in the research bench with the "Research With Data" gameplay option disabled

Researching QR2 with the gameplay option disabled and then re-enabling the option would incorrectly complete the data version of Antiseptic Codex research which do nothing codex related, as the actual checks for Antiseptic codices (i.e. for the vanilla research) were locked behind the data version of the Sentinel Codex.

You would not have seen this issue if you had already completed all vanilla DarkStar research before installing this patch.
