DESCRIPTION:
Give a visual overhaul to one of the Plateau Biomes by giving it a colour palette of the Icelandic South Coast.
The Plateau Biomes all share a similarly arid and dusty appearance, especially those on barren planets or moons. Aside from the one with olivine sand and red rocks, the colour palettes are relatively muted and consist of different shades of beige. This mod edits one of the Plateau Biomes by covering the landscape with a moss-like substance, which, in a way, makes it resemble the scenery found in Iceland, particularly along the south coast. The weather has also been adjusted to enhance the landscape's appearance, featuring an almost permanent valley fog. This mod is a "skin pack" for the biome. It does not alter gameplay mechanics such as flora, fauna, resources, keywords, or quests.
Before you start complaining about immersion being broken by finding moss on dead planets or moons, use your imagination and think of it as mineral deposits, fossilised alien guano, or kryptonite.
The biome can be found on ten celestial bodies, as listed below. The landscape looks most Earth-like on planets or moons with a blue sky, but different sky colours can give the landscape different vibes. The sky colours are shown in brackets.
- Alchiba IV-a (Blue)
- Charybdis V (Blue)
- Fermi VI (Green)
- Foucault VII-d (Blue)
- Katydid III (Yellow)
- Linnaeus III (Orange)
- Petria (Green)
- Skink (Orange)
- Strix II (Pale violet)
- Verne IV (Yellow green)
Various changes: Retextures of the terrain
- The landscape has been given a black and green colour scheme
Weather changes:
- The stunning valley fog is now an almost permanent feature
- Sandstorms have been removed
INSTALLATION: Download the file via a mod manager. The mod can be installed mid-game.
COMPATIBILITY AND LOAD ORDER: This mod modifies the following vanilla record and will conflict with other mods that edit the same thing:
- Biome (BIOM) CanyonsNoLife04
This mod has its own climate entry and is load-order independent of other weather mods.
This mod does NOT edit worldspaces or cells.
Load order:
- This mod should be loaded after mods that edit biomes.
Notes on the terrain The plateau consists of a flat highland and a more rugged lowland, separated by impressive cliffs. If you're lucky, you might also encounter narrow canyons that look like this on the surface map, but this terrain feature is quite rare.
