PLAYSTATION UPDATE AND 1.16.236.0 (FREE LANES) COMPATIBILITY This creation requires no changes for the new game update, PC and Xbox players can continue to use the existing version.
DESCRIPTION Allows you to buy more Comspikes and Conduction Grids for your ships after completing the Crimson Fleet questline if you side with SysDef.
Normally they are only available from Jasmine Durand, and so become unavailable if you decide to side with SysDef instead of the Crimson Fleet during that questline. This creation simply changes the condition so that Jillian Toft on the UC Vigilance can also sell them to the player after she becomes available as a ship technician. You will still need to play through the Crimson Fleet questline and unlock the parts normally for them to become available from Jillian.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO BUY MORE OF THEM? Although both are needed to advance the Crimson Fleet questline, they do also offer practical buffs:
- Comspike: Time to lock onto enemy ships is reduced by 25%, and weapons cost 20% less to use in Targeting Mode.
- Conduction Grid: Reduces EM damage by 50%, and increases shield regeneration by 25%.
This creation just contains two overrides, and should not need to remain permanently installed in order to keep the Comspikes and Conduction Grids you have purchased from Jillian.
IS THIS LORE FRIENDLY? SysDef gains access to The Key and by extension all of Jasmine Durand's equipment and notes, so it makes sense they'd be able to reproduce more. Jillian Toft does also make a somewhat vague boast about SysDef having access to the best equipment when she begins to offer ship technician services. As SysDef knows you have the existing prototypes and doesn't ask you to turn them over, it stands to reason they don't mind you having them and so wouldn't mind if you have more of them.
I would also argue that this isn't a "cheat" as you could have purchased as many comspikes and conduction grids as you wanted to and fitted them to all your ships during the questline - if the game had warned you that they would become unavailable!
