BNW – EM Turrets Non-Lethal Patch
Disable. Don't Destroy.
A lightweight compatibility and balance patch for EM Turrets, designed to transform electromagnetic ship weaponry into a dedicated non-lethal suppression system.
Developed for Vanguard captains, bounty hunters and pilots who prefer disabling hostile vessels rather than reducing them to floating wreckage.
Changelog — v1.1.0
Automatic Turret Engagement Fix
- Fixed an issue where EM turrets failed to engage hostile vessels when shield damage was set to zero.
- Increased shield damage from 0 to 1, the minimum positive value supported by the damage field.
- Retained microscopic base/hull damage at 0.000001.
- Preserved all original electromagnetic damage values.
- Retained automatic targeting, unrestricted turret tracking, firing rates, models and animations.
- Updated the damage configuration for consistent application across supported turret variants.
Xbox Field Testing
- Confirmed automatic turret targeting and engagement restored.
- Confirmed successful enemy shield depletion and ship-system incapacitation.
- Verified that modified damage statistics display correctly in Ship Builder.
Known Limitations
- Sustained turret fire can still cause cumulative hull damage.
- Turrets continue engaging disabled vessels until manually powered down or combat targeting changes.
- Automatic cease-fire behaviour remains under investigation.
Features
- Reduces base weapon damage to a microscopic 0.000001.
- Removes direct shield damage by setting its value to zero.
- Preserves the original electromagnetic damage values.
- Retains automatic turret targeting, tracking and firing behaviour.
- Preserves original firing rates, weapon models and animations.
- Requires no additional configuration.
Supported Weapons
The initial release modifies three EM turret variants:
- EMP-200 Modulated Suppressor Turret
- Tatsu 500EM Turret
- Tatsu 501EM Turret
All other weapons remain unchanged.
Requirements
Requires the original EM Turrets Creation.
Install this patch alongside EM Turrets and position it after the original mod in your load order.
Important Notes
This is an experimental balance patch. The extremely small positive base damage value is intended to preserve automatic targeting behaviour while minimising destructive damage.
Actual combat performance requires in-game validation.
This patch does not modify turret target-selection AI or introduce automatic cease-fire behaviour when an enemy vessel becomes disabled.
