Meet Moara Otero

Moara Otero is a Martian-born pilot and soldier from Cydonia, where he grew up amid the harsh, industrial life of Mars under the United Colonies. Rather than chasing opportunity across distant star systems, Moara remains deeply rooted in Sol, believing humanity’s home system is too often overlooked as expansion pushes ever outward. He serves with the UC Vanguard, not for status or reward, but out of a personal sense of duty to defend the place where it all began. Known for his resilience and resourcefulness, Moara often operates alone, conducting patrols and guerrilla-style engagements against Spacers while doing what he can to keep danger away from civilian populations—even going so far as to draw enemies toward himself. Despite his hardened experience, there is a grounded, quietly weary humor about him, the sort earned from surviving more fights than most. During the main quest The Old Neighborhood, his ship is ambushed and overtaken by mercenaries, leaving him stranded until rescued by the Spacefarer and Sarah Morgan.

In gratitude, he willingly hands over his Artifact without hesitation and later offers his services as a crew member, found back in Cydonia’s Broken Spear. Moara is not driven by grand ambitions or cosmic mysteries; instead, he stands as a steady, honorable figure—someone who chose to protect what humanity already has, rather than chase what lies beyond.
